About The Recipe Tester

I am a Wife and Mommy with a full-time job, plenty of side projects, and a passion for cooking!  I LOVE watching cooking shows and am so thankful that Food Network exists!!

I started this blog for a few reasons, first: I needed somewhere to store my recipe collection!  I have been printing recipes and cutting up magazines for years…it was time to make them easier to find and recall what I thought about them!  Second: I wanted to increase my cooking repertoire and share the good recipes with my friends.  Everyone can cook, even if you’re like me and have a hard time following directions!

What can you expect from me?  I research the  recipes before I make them.  I typically pick the best I can find or make the version that is being highlighted at the time.  I am not a chef (though I’d love to attend culinary school!) but am an experienced home cook.  I may chop a little quicker than you, but if I had to race a TV chef, I would undoubtedly lose.  So, my timing is a realistic estimate for you.   I seldom use precut ingredients, so you can always go that route if you’re in a hurry and need to save time.  I avoid packaged food with a bunch of preservatives…I even try to limit the amount of canned items that I use.  If I look at a recipe and it requires more than 2 ingredients that I’ve never used before, I don’t make it.  If a recipe calls for something that Ina can find in the Hamptons, but my local grocery store doesn’t carry and I can’t think of a good substitute, I don’t make it.  Basically, if I can make it, you can make it.

So, for all of you that have been searching for a place to find quick, easy, healthy-ish, family-friendly recipes, you’ve come to the right place!  Italian, Mexican, Chinese, Thai, Korean, Indian…whatever you’re in the mood for, I’ve tested a recipe that may be worth your while.  Take a look around and find your own passion for cooking.  Enjoy!

Wow, Relina! I have just discovered your impressive blog. I have no idea how you find time to do all that you do. I’ll be sure to pay more attention to the recipes you post. If only this technology existed back in the day…sure beats the dozens of recipe boxes I’ve prepared over the years!
